Watch live broadcasts on feitv.org

As equestrians in the world of pay-tv we’re often disapointed in the coverage of our favourite events. feitv.org broadcasts the best of FEI competitions live to your PC.

Registration with the site is free which allows you access to selected content, but you really want a day pass, one week or annual pass to get access to the full selection. An annual pass will set you back around $100 (USD$79.99 or €59.99 @ time of writing) but when you compare that to a foxtel subscription (minimum around $500 annually) you have to ask yourself where you’ll get more value.

Once on the inside, you’ll have access to a variety of videos, (courtesy of Flash Player) including interviews and events in Jumping, Dressage, Eventing and Para-Equestrian categories. There’s also a place for Non-Olympic Disciplines and something they term ‘Equestrian Spirit’. You can check out the Live Schedule for a listing of the broadcasts available throughout the 2009 calendar year and the online archive includes selective broadcasts back as far as the 2003 year. (And it looks like there could be a plan to make more archive footage available in future).

The website’s hard to navigate, you can’t embed or link to video easily and frankly the image quality is poor, so they’ve got some work to do yet. I’d recommend keeping an eye on it though – the site looks like it’s tapped a market, offering coverage not available on your regular cable and pay-tv channels here in Australia.
